In a landmark move, Bentley Motors has become the first automotive manufacturer to join Leather Naturally, a prestigious global NGO dedicated to advancing sustainability within the leather industry. This partnership highlights Bentley’s commitment to its Beyond100 strategy, which aims to establish the brand as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility.
Leather Naturally promotes the use of certified, responsibly-sourced leather as a natural by-product of a circular economy. This initiative is a significant step for Bentley, echoing its 2021 milestone of becoming the first automotive member of the Leather Working Group. This earlier membership focused on advocating for responsible business practices and environmental compliance within the leather industry.

Bentley’s recent innovation, the introduction of Olive Mill Waste Water tanned Leather, represents a leap forward in sustainable materials. This pioneering approach utilizes waste products from the olive oil industry to create leather that is free from harmful heavy metals, minerals, and aldehydes. This sustainable tanning process aligns perfectly with Bentley’s dedication to eco-friendly practices and enhances its Beyond100 strategy.
Marc Stang, Bentley’s Technical Expert in Leather and Colour Development, emphasized the importance of this new material: “Leather is a timeless, luxury material that has always epitomised the elegance, durability, and quality of a hand-crafted Bentley interior. The introduction of sustainable leathers not only offers a wider variety of choices for our customers but also reinforces our commitment to our industry-leading Beyond100 strategy.”
Debbie Burton, Chair of Leather Naturally, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Leather Naturally is thrilled to welcome Bentley as a member. This partnership underscores Bentley’s dedication to sustainability and continuous improvement, reflecting its Beyond100 vision.”
Leather Naturally’s global membership spans various industries, all committed to supporting a responsible circular economy by utilizing hides from the food industry, which would otherwise contribute to waste. Bentley’s entry into this influential network marks a significant step in driving sustainable luxury forward.
