Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa recently handed over a brand new Ford Ranger Double Cab 3.0TDCi 4×4 to Rugby legend Os du Randt. Ford announced a 12-month sponsorship agreement with the Rugby hero and is delighted to have Os on board as a brand ambassador.

“There is a very good synergy between Ford’s commitment to South Africa and the values Os portrays,” explains Ben Pillay, Ford Marketing General Manager. “Os is a brand in his own right and his commitment to his country, his family and upholding strong values such as loyalty, respect and integrity fit perfectly with Ford’s own image.”

Ford’s Tough Truck ethos is founded on the basis of Ford’s revered Truck history. With a heritage that dates back 90 years Ford has established itself as a leader in the segment and offers South African buyers the widest possible range of pick-ups.

Os du Randt has been one of South Africa’s most celebrated sportsmen – having achieved success and glory for his country in both the 1995 and 2007 Rugby World Cup tournaments. With his powerful performances on the field, Os completely represents Ford’s legendary tough truck DNA and strongly embodies the Built Ford Tough image associated with the Ford truck range.

Os is looking forward to driving his new Ford Ranger 4×4 Double Cab in his daily travels as well as to various events during the course of the year. Fans can expect to see Os at various functions including this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show. He was also present at the Ford stand at this years NAMPO expo.

“Being a farmer myself I have a real appreciation for what the Ford Ranger is capable of and what the Built Ford Tough ethos is all about,” says Os. “I’m looking forward to putting my new Ford Ranger through its paces and have no doubt it will deliver in all departments.”

The Ford Ranger is built locally at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa’s Silverton plant. Powered by a 3.0-litre common rail diesel engine the Ranger produces 115kW at 3 200rpm and 380Nm at 1 800rpm resulting in rapid engine response and great fuel economy.

“Os is the hero that many young children dream of becoming and many dads hope to meet,” adds Pillay. “As such we are excited to have him representing the Ford brand.”
