PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA, 12 September 2025 – Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd (FMCSA) has announced a voluntary safety recall affecting select 2025 and 2026 Ford Ranger vehicles.

The recall addresses a potential issue with the vehicle’s braking system. In affected vehicles, drivers may experience a change in pedal feel or increased effort required to operate the brakes due to a temporary loss of brake boost functionality. Should this occur, the vehicle’s Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and brake warning signals will illuminate on the instrument cluster, accompanied by informational messages and an audible alert.

FMCSA warns that a loss of brake boost could extend stopping distances, creating an elevated risk of collision.

In Southern Africa, a total of 5 676 vehicles are affected, distributed as follows: South Africa – 5 387; Botswana – 113; Namibia – 157; and Eswatini – 19.

Affected customers are being contacted directly by FMCSA and are urged to schedule a service appointment with their preferred Ford dealer. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and carry out the necessary repairs, which include a software update, free of charge to the customer.

“Safety remains our highest priority,” said FMCSA. “Together with our dealer network, we are committed to ensuring that every Ford customer receives the support and service they need.”

Ford owners can check if their vehicle is affected by visiting www.ford.co.za/owner/recalls/ and entering their VIN. The Ford Pass app also provides access to recent safety recalls.
