The value-for-money offering of the Johannesburg Motor Show, which takes place at Expo Centre, Nasrec, from 8-16 October is boosted substantially by several exciting forms of motorised entertainment that can be watched for no extra charge.
There are two spectacular motorcycle events – one of which involves a mountain bike and the other two-wheel action will be mixed in with drifting cars – as well as a third show, featuring precision driving in cars.
Two famous international riders will be involved in a unique challenge – Kenny Belaey, of Belgium, will ride his mountain bike against Julien Dupont, of France, on a GasGas trials motorcycle. Belaey (28) is a nine time world mountain bike trials champion, while Dupont (31) is a world extreme moto trials champion.
The two protagonists will tackle the same or similar obstacles so it will be a straight fight between man and machine power! They will take part in two shows daily on October 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. The venue will be near the motorcycle and scooter display on Terrace 2.
Jim McFarlane, of XS Promotions has come up with an awesome Top Gear-type repertoire involving both powerful Chevrolet cars and motorcycles. This promises to be a highly memorable and dramatic show which will involve 14 people.
.Among the motorcycle stunt riders will be the famous Le Riche brothers who between them have won nine SA trials titles as well as being multiple winners on the tough US circuit, where they finished second and fourth in the championship.
Jim McFarlane does not want to let too much out of the bag at this stage as regards what exactly will take place, but he gives the assurance the show, called the Atomic Junkies Theatre, will certainly be action-packed and adrenaline-charged.
This show will take place on the drifting track at 11:00 and 15:00 on each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In addition the Yokohama Driving Dynamics team will be putting on displays in four Opel; Corsa OPCs. They too will have morning and afternoon displays on the Saturdays and Sundays.
