Renault Group has seen significant growth in its overall sales during the first half of the year, achieving a 1.9% increase to reach a total of 1,154,700 vehicles sold. This positive trend is largely due to a winning strategy in Europe, where sales rose by 6.7%.

In Europe, the Group solidified its third-place position by selling 847,623 vehicles, an increase of 6.7% in a market that grew by 5.5%. The Renault brand outperformed the market with 535,238 vehicles sold, marking an 8.2% rise, securing its spot as the third-largest brand in Europe and the number one in France (PC+LCV). The brand’s passenger car growth was driven by the outstanding performance of full hybrid E-Tech engines, which saw a 45% increase compared to the first half of 2023. Renault also led the light commercial vehicle market with 171,202 sales, a 19.2% increase from the previous year.

Dacia continued to perform strongly, selling 309,816 vehicles, a 4.0% rise compared to the first half of 2023. The brand remains among the top 10 best-selling brands in Europe, with Sandero leading as the best-selling car across all channels. Meanwhile, the Alpine brand reported 2,569 registrations, a significant 47.7% increase, fueled by the success of its extended range with the A110 R Turini.

Commercial Strategy and Sales Channels
Renault Group’s commercial policy focuses on a virtuous mix and strategic sales channels. Retail sales constituted nearly 62% of the total vehicles sold in the Group’s five main European markets, exceeding the market average by more than 20 points. The Group boasts four vehicles in the top 10 retail sales rankings in Europe.

The Renault brand is accelerating in the C segment and above, particularly in the C-SUV and D-SUV categories, with a 10% increase. This growth is driven primarily by the high-trim versions of Austral and Espace E-Tech full hybrid, which are highly appreciated by customers.

Driving Success Renault Groups Remarkable Growth In 2024

Electrification and Hybrid Success
Electrified vehicles made up 29.6% of Renault Group’s sales in Europe, a 4.3-point increase from 2023. This performance is largely attributed to the success of hybrid powertrains, which saw a remarkable 59.6% increase in sales compared to the first half of 2023. Nearly half of the passenger cars sold by Renault are electrified, placing Renault as Europe’s number two brand in the hybrid passenger car segment, with Clio, Austral, and Captur ranking in the top 10.

All-electric vehicles accounted for almost 12% of Renault brand sales, with anticipated growth in the second half of the year due to the launch of the Scenic E-Tech electric and Renault 5 E-Tech electric. Dacia also saw nearly 10% of its sales come from electrified vehicles, driven by the success of the Jogger Hybrid 140.

Alpine launched its electric offensive with the reveal of the A290, its first all-electric hot hatch, on June 13, 2024, with orders opening this summer. By the end of June 2024, Renault Group’s order book in Europe represented 2.6 months of forecast sales, with 10 new commercial launches planned for the year, continuing the Group’s electrification and international market expansion.

Renault Brand Performance
The Renault brand, the world’s best-selling French car brand, reported a 2.0% increase in sales (787,223 vehicles) in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This success is primarily driven by the brand’s performance in Europe, where sales rose by 8.2%, outperforming a market that grew by 5.5%.

In France, Renault maintained its leading position with 214,881 vehicles sold, an 8% increase. Internationally, the brand saw growth in Turkey (10.8%), Brazil (5.3%), and Morocco (1.5%). The “International Game Plan 2027” has led to the relaunch of the brand in South Korea with Grand Koleos and a strong start for Kardian in Brazil and Mexico, with upcoming launches in Morocco and Turkey.

Renault’s value-oriented sales policy has proven effective, with one in every two sales in Europe being to retail customers. The brand is also making significant strides in the C-SUV and D-SUV segments, driven by the high-trim versions of Austral and Espace E-Tech full hybrid.

Leading the Light Commercial Vehicle Market
Renault continues to lead the LCV market with 171,202 vehicles sold, a 19.2% increase from the first half of 2023. This success is attributed to flagship models like Kangoo, Express, and Master, all leaders in their segments, and the strong performance of Trafic.

Strategic Electrification
Renault’s electrification strategy balances a comprehensive electric vehicle range with a robust hybrid lineup. The brand is Europe’s second-largest for hybrids, with a significant increase in sales. All-electric vehicles constitute nearly 12% of Renault’s sales, with future growth expected from new models like the Scenic E-Tech electric and Renault 5 E-Tech electric.

Exciting New Launches for 2024
Renault is set for a year of notable commercial launches, with seven new vehicles planned. The brand is poised for a strong second half with the upcoming releases of Symbioz, Master, and Renault 5 E-Tech electric in Europe. Internationally, Renault will continue to execute its “International Game Plan” with launches of Renault Duster, Grand Koleos, and Kardian in new markets.

Dacia Brand: Consistent Growth
Dacia achieved a 3.8% increase in sales, with 358,497 registrations in the first half of the year. In Europe, the brand sold 309,816 vehicles, maintaining its position among the top 10 for PC+LCV sales.

Alpine Brand: Expanding Presence
Alpine reported 2,720 registrations, a 47.2% increase, driven by strong performances in France, Germany, the UK, and Belgium. The brand’s electric offensive began with the presentation of the A290, a sporty electric hot hatch, at the Le Mans 24 Hour event. The first half of 2024 also saw Alpine’s international expansion, with new stores opening in Turkey, Barcelona, and planned locations in the Netherlands, Hungary, Sweden, and France by the end of the year.
