In a momentous occasion at the Institute of The Motor Industry (IMI) Annual Dinner in London on 12th March, Dale Wyatt was presented with the highly esteemed President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Motor Industry. This marks Wyatt’s third major accolade in just six months, celebrating his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the automotive sector.
The award, one of the highest honours in the industry, was presented by IMI President Professor Jim Saker, who praised Wyatt’s long-standing influence. “This recognition is a reflection of your outstanding contribution to the automotive industry and the impact you have made in advancing innovation, leadership, and inclusion across the sector,” said Professor Saker in his speech. “Your success embodies the spirit of the President’s Award – championing excellence, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the future of our industry.”
Wyatt’s stellar career, spanning more than 35 years, has been defined by his deep commitment to the Suzuki brand and its dealer network, establishing him as one of the most respected figures in the industry. Since joining Suzuki in 2007, Wyatt has played an instrumental role in building strong relationships with the dealer network, advancing Suzuki’s position in the UK automotive market, and becoming a trusted leader. His reputation for integrity and dedication has earned him the admiration of peers and colleagues alike.
Professor Saker continued, “Your work not only sets a benchmark for others to follow but also highlights the critical importance of leadership and inclusion in driving the sector forward.” Wyatt’s ability to lead with foresight and champion inclusivity within the automotive industry has set a new standard, paving the way for future leaders and innovations.
While Wyatt is set to retire early from his full-time role at Suzuki GB PLC this month, his influence within the automotive world remains far from over. Though he will step down from his executive position, he will continue to contribute to the industry as a consultant, offering his vast experience and insights to help shape the future of the sector.
Reflecting on his latest accolade, Wyatt expressed his gratitude and humility: “I am delighted, humbled, and very proud to be the recipient of the IMI President’s Award. Many thanks to everyone at the Institute and the wider automotive industry for this further strong recognition. I hope to work with you again at some point in the future.”
As Wyatt steps into retirement, his legacy within the automotive world is undeniable. This third award is a testament to a career marked by excellence, leadership, and a steadfast dedication to driving the industry forward.
