Chevrolet has once again been lauded for its commitment to environmentally friendly motoring winning the Green Apple Awards Green Car Manufacturer: Gold Winner prize for the multi award winning Volt.
The inaugural Green Apple Awards for Car Dealerships, supported by Car Dealer magazine, are part of the Green Apple Awards 2012 for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage and represent a new focus for the organisers, the Green Organisation, who aim to highlight those car dealers and manufacturers who raise the bar in terms of their positive commitment to the environment.
James Baggott, editorial director, Car Dealer Magazine said: “Chevrolet is one of a number of car manufacturers to have embraced environmentally responsible motoring with vigour. Its Volt extended range electric vehicle allows owners to enjoy up to 300 miles of driving on a full battery charge and a full tank of fuel, and can travel up to 50 miles on one battery charge.
“Our judges were impressed by Chevrolet’s attitude that being green does not have to come at the cost of impinging people’s lifestyles.”
Chevrolet UK Managing Director Mark Terry said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone involved at the Green Organisation. As well as the overall manufacturer award, we were also lucky enough to win two further categories thanks to the support of the Midland Group of Motoring Writers. It was a very successful day for Chevrolet.”
The Green Apple Awards are run by the Green Organisation, an independent environment group dedicated to promoting the positive side of environmental endeavour. The Green Apple Awards were started in 1994 to reward environmental best practise in the public sector. Expanding over the years to include private sector and consumer technology, the organisation is now supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and many other professional bodies.
