LATEST TECHNOLOGY PETROL ENGINE FOR ORLANDO
At launch in South Africa the Orlando will be available with a latest generation petrol engine from General Motors that offers an excellent balance between performance and efficiency.
This engine is a four-cylinder in-line 16-valve unit mounted transversely and driving the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. The double overhead camshaft layout incorporates variable valve timing for optimised torque and power over a wide engine speed range. The VVT system together with multi-point fuel injection improves engine efficiency and lowers emissions.
The bore and stroke are 80,5 X 88,2mm for a capacity of 1796 cm3. The compression ratio is 10.5:1. Maximum power is 104 kW @ 6200 r/min and peak torque is 176 Nm @ 3800 r/min. The wide torque band makes 85% of the maximum torque available from 2000 r/min.
Performance figures include a top speed of 185 km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 12 seconds. Fuel consumption as measured by Chevrolet engineers over the combined operating cycle is an impressive 7.2 l/100km with emissions of 171 g/km. This unit meets Euro 5 emissions standards.
