In an unprecedented performance, Chery Group has achieved a historic milestone in the first three quarters of 2025, selling over two million vehicles—a pace unmatched in the company’s history. This achievement underscores Chery’s rapid evolution as a global automotive powerhouse, driven by innovation, strategic expansion, and a strong commitment to new energy mobility.

NEV Sales Surge, Driving Local and Global Growth

A key driver behind Chery’s record-breaking performance has been its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio. Delivering 587,545 NEVs in the first nine months of the year—a staggering 77.1% increase over the same period in 2024—Chery has firmly established itself among China’s top five NEV manufacturers.

Flagship models such as the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH have played a pivotal role in capturing consumer interest in South Africa. In August alone, Chery emerged as one of the country’s leading NEV brands, with 227 units sold, reflecting growing local demand for intelligent, sustainable mobility solutions. More than three-quarters of Chery’s newly launched vehicles during this period were NEVs, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to environmentally conscious innovation.

Exports and International Expansion

Chery’s global footprint continues to expand at an impressive rate. Overseas sales reached 137,624 units in September, a 26.2% increase year-on-year, marking the fifth consecutive month that exports surpassed the 100,000-unit threshold. From January to September, the company exported 936,428 vehicles, effectively shipping one Chery vehicle overseas every 25 seconds.

European markets have emerged as a particular area of focus. Chery’s sales in the region more than doubled compared to the same period last year, with 145,000 vehicles sold. This strategic push into upmarket international operations underscores Chery’s ambition to evolve beyond volume-led growth into a globally recognized, premium automotive brand.

Strengthening Brand Recognition

Chery’s global influence is being reflected in brand recognition and rankings. The Group climbed to 233rd place on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, making it the fastest-rising automaker worldwide. It also retained its position as a top automobile brand in the Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders report, co-released with Google. These achievements highlight Chery’s growing reputation for quality, innovation, and customer-focused design.

Capital Markets and Corporate Milestones

September 25th marked a new chapter in Chery’s growth story, as Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Main Board. The IPO was the largest automotive listing in Hong Kong in 2025, reinforcing Chery’s position in the global capital markets and enabling further investment in technology, innovation, and international expansion.

By the end of September, Chery had served over 17.72 million users worldwide, including 5.43 million overseas customers, illustrating the company’s ability to connect with diverse markets while maintaining high standards of service and quality.

South Africa’s Role in Chery’s Success

“Chery’s continued global momentum, particularly in the NEV space, reflects the brand’s strong commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction,” said Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for Chery South Africa. “Here, in South Africa, we’re proud to see our market contributing to this upward trajectory, especially as local interest in NEVs grows steadily. The success of models like the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH is a clear indication that local consumers are ready for intelligent, future-facing mobility solutions.”

As Chery continues to set new benchmarks for sales, innovation, and global reach, the brand’s trajectory in 2025 exemplifies the dynamism of China’s automotive industry—an industry now driving the transition toward smarter, more sustainable mobility solutions worldwide.
