Agrii, one of the UK’s leading agricultural distributors, has taken a decisive step towards lower-emission logistics with the arrival of its first all-electric heavy goods vehicle: the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 LS ProCabin Stream 4×2. The vehicle, supplied by Midlands Truck & Van, represents a major milestone not only for Agrii’s sustainability strategy but also for the wider adoption of long-haul electric trucking in the UK.
As one of the first operators in the country to introduce the new eActros 600 into daily service, Agrii has aligned itself with a pioneering wave of early adopters demonstrating that electric long-distance transport is now commercially and operationally viable.
Long-Distance Capability Proven in Real-World Operations
Before placing its order, Agrii conducted a comprehensive evaluation programme, including full-load trials on its most demanding routes. The company’s logistics operation hinges on a nightly 460 km round trip between its central distribution hub and its depot network. This journey must be completed without compromise, regardless of season, conditions or payload.
The eActros 600 was the only electric HGV tested that could achieve the full 460 km route comfortably on a single charge. With a class-leading range exceeding 500 km, it finished the trial runs with energy in reserve, proving its suitability for sustained, real-world long-distance operation.
This range capability is more than a technical achievement — it is the key enabler for Agrii to integrate an electric HGV into its core distribution cycle without adjusting schedules or infrastructure.
Significant CO₂ Reductions from Day One
Based on Agrii’s typical annual mileage of around 60,000 km, the eActros 600 is expected to cut approximately 59 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year. For a company deeply connected to the agricultural sector — where environmental stewardship is not only a business imperative but an industry expectation — this transition marks a meaningful progression toward a lower-impact supply chain.
Richard Pinnock, Agrii’s National Distribution Manager, said:
“It’s almost unnatural to think a truck that size can be electric and achieve such a distance on one charge. Sustainability is an important issue for the agricultural sector, and adopting our first electric HGV is a crucial step in reducing our environmental impact.”
A Natural Fit for Night-Time Rural Deliveries
The eActros 600’s quiet, all-electric powertrain introduces key operational benefits, particularly for Agrii’s predominantly rural delivery network. Overnight deliveries to remote areas can now be completed with significantly reduced noise, minimising disruption to local communities and improving overall route efficiency.
In sectors where early-morning and night-time schedules are common, the near-silent nature of electric propulsion offers a tangible advantage — one that conventional diesel vehicles simply cannot match.

A Premium, High-Impact Visual Identity
To mark this next step in its fleet evolution, Agrii equipped the eActros 600 with premium, high-visibility branding. The wrap was applied by Finch Signs using Metamark Metaglide vinyl, printed on the latest Roland VG3-540 system to ensure sharp colour reproduction and long-term durability.
Metaglide’s advanced adhesive properties enable precise positioning and clean application across the complex shapes of the cab, reinforcing Agrii’s commitment to both sustainability and presentation quality.
A Partnership More Than a Decade in the Making
This delivery continues Agrii’s long-standing relationship with Midlands Truck & Van and Truck Sales Executive Amit Verma, who has supported the development of Agrii’s Mercedes-Benz fleet for more than ten years.
Amit Verma commented:
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Agrii on this transition. From early prototype testing to detailed route analysis, this project has been a real partnership. Delivering the first eActros 600 to Agrii is a proud moment for everyone involved.”
Setting a New Benchmark for Electric Long-Haul Transport
The rollout of the eActros 600 to Agrii underscores the readiness of battery-electric long-distance haulage for daily commercial use.
Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, added:
“Agrii’s adoption of the eActros 600 shows that electric long-haul transport is ready for real-world operations. With its 500 km+ range and proven capability, the eActros 600 enables forward-thinking operators like Agrii to meet sustainability targets without compromising on productivity.”
