Chery South Africa has entered the final stretch of 2025 with remarkable momentum, propelled once again by the exceptional performance of the Tiggo 4 range. October proved to be a defining month for the brand, with the compact crossover lineup delivering a standout 1,725 units—securing its position as South Africa’s third best-selling passenger vehicle for the month. In a market crowded with long-established competitors, the Tiggo 4’s continued rise is a notable achievement for the Chinese automaker.

With total Chery sales reaching 2,210 units in October, the Tiggo 4 range clearly remains the brand’s strongest driver of growth. Its consistent performance throughout the year has cemented its status as one of the country’s most popular nameplates. The third quarter alone saw an impressive 4,899 Tiggo 4 units sold, underscoring its sustained demand among local buyers.

A Lineup Built for South African Lifestyles

Part of the Tiggo 4’s success lies in the breadth of its offering. Comprising both Tiggo 4 and Tiggo Cross models across 13 derivatives, the range spans entry-level options, commercial applications, and hybrid drivetrains. This diversity ensures that the lineup meets the needs of a wide customer base—from fleet operators to young families and urban commuters.

Affordability remains a central factor. The Tiggo 4 Cross—priced from R269,900—has become one of the most accessible ways for buyers to step into a feature-rich, modern compact SUV. Importantly, competitive pricing does not come at the expense of specification. Even the entry variants deliver a generous mix of connectivity, safety, and convenience features, reinforcing the value-for-money equation that continues to resonate with budget-conscious South Africans.

“We’re thrilled that the Tiggo 4 range continues to capture the imagination of South African motorists,” says Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for Chery South Africa. “This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering vehicles that combine advanced technology, striking design, and exceptional value. The Tiggo 4 range embodies everything Chery stands for—quality, innovation, and a genuine understanding of our customers’ needs.”

Hybrid Leadership: The Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid Steps Into the Spotlight

Beyond its traditionally powered models, Chery’s expanding electrified footprint is becoming a story of its own. The Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid, launched earlier in 2025, has rapidly established itself as one of the best-selling electrified vehicles in South Africa.

August saw the hybrid variant achieve 122 units sold, an impressive result in a segment that is still emerging locally. Priced at R439,900, it retains the title of South Africa’s most affordable hybrid, delivering a remarkable combined fuel consumption figure of 5.4L/100 km. This balance of efficiency and accessibility is helping Chery introduce hybrid technology to a broader range of motorists—many of whom are stepping into electrification for the first time.

Chery’s Momentum Spreads Across the Range

While the Tiggo 4 remains the brand’s undisputed volume leader, Chery is experiencing meaningful traction across other segments too. The newly launched flagship Tiggo 9 recorded 41 units in September, a strong start for a model positioned in the upper end of the family SUV market. Meanwhile, the popular Tiggo 8 added 121 units, and the sporty Tiggo 7 contributed 323 units during the same month.

Together, these figures reflect a brand expanding not just in volumes, but in breadth—building a presence in multiple price brackets and lifestyle categories.

A Brand That Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

With the Tiggo 4 range maintaining its status as one of South Africa’s favourite passenger vehicles, Chery’s momentum in 2025 is undeniable. Strong product competitiveness, value-led pricing, and the fast-growing appeal of the brand’s hybrid technology continue to fuel its rise.

As the final quarter unfolds, all indications suggest that Chery’s upward trajectory is far from over—and the Tiggo 4 range remains firmly at the heart of its success story.
