Renault has firmly cemented its position at the forefront of the UK’s evolving electric vehicle landscape, celebrating a remarkable hat-trick of wins at the 2025 Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards. From joyful driving dynamics to long-distance comfort and a bold vision for sustainability, the French marque’s current electric line-up has clearly struck a chord with both critics and car owners alike.
At the centre of this triumph is the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, which clinched the prestigious “Editor’s Choice” Award. Channelling the retro charm of its iconic namesake, the modern reimagining of the Renault 5 has delighted drivers with its exuberant character, accessible pricing from £22,995 OTR, and practical all-electric range of up to 252 miles.
Erin Baker, Editorial Director at Autotrader, praised the Renault 5 E-Tech electric for its infectious personality:
“As soon as it was announced, everyone who remembered the original hoped it would be just as thrilling. And Renault has nailed it. It’s impossible to drive the Renault 5 E-Tech electric without a huge smile on your face. For me, there really was only one winner of the Editor’s Choice Award this year.”
Adding further weight to Renault’s electric credentials, the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric took top honours as the “Best Car for Long Distances”, reflecting the views of more than 225,000 UK car owners who participated in Autotrader’s comprehensive real-world survey. Designed with families and commuters in mind, the Scenic impressed with its generous range of up to 381 miles, spacious interior, and technology that enhances everyday usability – all starting from £37,195 OTR.

Notably, this isn’t Scenic’s first accolade – it was awarded the Erin Baker Award last year for its compelling blend of form and function. This year’s win underscores its continued impact and enduring appeal among EV buyers.
Completing Renault’s award-winning hat-trick is the “Sustainability Initiative Award”, recognising the brand’s leadership in driving the automotive industry toward a cleaner, greener future. The award highlights the Renault Emblème concept – a showcase of circular design thinking, advanced recyclability, and decarbonisation innovation. With a projected lifetime CO₂ footprint of just five tonnes, the Emblème serves as a bold benchmark for what sustainable motoring can and should look like.
Baker noted the judges’ admiration for Renault’s approach:
“Our independent experts from The Carbon Literacy Project felt the Emblème represented a clear understanding of what’s required from the industry to achieve the necessary decarbonisation. It sets a precedent and a clear pathway for the future.”
Responding to the triple accolade, Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault UK, said:
“Renault is leading the way in developing emotive, innovative electric vehicles, and these awards show that we are delivering on that promise. Scenic and R5 have brought something new and refreshing to the electric vehicle market with head and heart appeal, and Emblème raises the bar further when it comes to sustainable motoring.”
As Renault continues to redefine the electric experience with a focus on emotion, efficiency, and environmental impact, this trio of awards is more than recognition – it’s a resounding endorsement of a brand charging confidently into the future.
